8 Days in the Himalayas. Muktinath, Kagbeni and the Mustang Valley.
Above the reach of most Nepal itineraries, at 3,800 metres in the rain-shadow of the Annapurna range, stands Muktinath — one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites in the Himalayan world, revered by both Hindus and Buddhists. This is the Nepal that most travellers never see.

8 Days Spiritual Nepal: Muktinath & Kagbeni
Muktinath at 3,800 metres is one of the most sacred shrines in the Himalayan world — a place where both Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims travel extraordinary distances to pray. The eternal flame fed by natural gas seeps, the 108 sacred water spouts, the gompa monastery and the vast empty landscape of the Mustang valley make this one of Nepal's most profound destinations.
This itinerary is designed for travellers who want more than Kathmandu and Pokhara — who want to go high, to feel the thin air and the silence of the high Himalayas, and to understand why people have been making this pilgrimage for thousands of years. Combined with Pokhara, Tato Pani hot springs and the Kathmandu cultural circuit, it is the most complete spiritual journey Nepal can offer.

Why This Is Nepal's Most Profound Itinerary

Muktinath Temple at 3,800 Metres
The sacred temple complex at Muktinath is revered as one of the 108 Vishnu shrines, and also as a major Buddhist pilgrimage site. The 108 water spouts, the eternal flame and the high-altitude landscape make this one of the most moving experiences in the Himalaya.

Kagbeni — The Gateway to Upper Mustang
The ancient walled village of Kagbeni sits at the junction of the Kali Gandaki River and the road to Upper Mustang. Centuries-old gompa monasteries, narrow lanes and wind-sculpted rock formations at 2,800 metres — unchanged for centuries.

Tato Pani Natural Hot Springs
On the return route from the high Himalayas, Tato Pani (literally 'hot water') is a riverside village with natural hot springs right beside the Kali Gandaki. A deeply welcome soak after the high-altitude air of Muktinath.

The High Himalayas Need the Right Team
Muktinath requires careful planning — flights to Jomsom are weather-dependent, the altitude needs respect, and the permits and logistics of the Mustang zone require experience. Dhesu has been guiding this sacred route since the valley opened to international travellers.

Muktinath Tour Package from Malaysia
Muktinath is one of the most spiritually significant places in the Himalayan world — sacred to both Vishnu worshippers (as one of the 108 Divya Desams) and Tibetan Buddhists (as the site of the famous Dhola Mebar eternally burning gas jets). Pilgrims have been making the journey to Muktinath for centuries, travelling by foot through the high passes of the Annapurna range.
Today, a 25-minute flight from Pokhara to Jomsom puts Muktinath within reach of any traveller — but the high altitude (3,800 metres), the remoteness and the extraordinary landscape still make this feel like the journey of a lifetime.
Altitude Information for Muktinath
Muktinath sits at 3,800 metres above sea level. At this altitude, some travellers experience mild Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) symptoms — headache, breathlessness, fatigue — particularly on the first day. The Jomsom flight ascends rapidly from Pokhara at 820 metres.
Dhesu briefs every traveller on AMS before departure: acclimatise properly in Pokhara, stay hydrated, ascend slowly and do not ignore symptoms. The Muktinath visit is typically kept to one day at altitude, with descent to lower elevations the same day. Most travellers manage the altitude comfortably with proper preparation.
