About This Package

5 Days Saigon + Cu Chi Tunnels + Mui Ne Beach Resort

This five-day package covers South Vietnam's most distinctive landscapes and experiences: the Mui Ne beach and dune coast, the Cu Chi underground wartime tunnel network, and Ho Chi Minh City's essential historical sites. Two nights in Mui Ne gives the full coastal experience — the White Sand Dunes at dawn, the Fairy Stream, the fishing village — without the early morning rush that single-night packages require.

The Cu Chi Tunnels are among the most powerful sites in Vietnam for historical understanding. The Ben Dinh section of the tunnel complex, 40 kilometres northwest of Ho Chi Minh City, was the northern section of the Viet Cong's wartime tunnel network — 250 kilometres of tunnels at up to three levels below ground, used for communication, supply, field hospitals, and surprise attacks during the American War. A local guide leads visitors through the tunnel sections (widened for tourist access), the hidden trapdoors, booby trap displays, and the tank and bomb craters left from B-52 strikes.

Saigon on day three covers the major historical sites: the War Remnants Museum (the most visited museum in Vietnam), Independence Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, and the General Post Office. Day three evening on Nguyen Hue Street and the Café Apartment Block at 42 Nguyen Hue gives the modern Ho Chi Minh City street scene.

What Makes This Trip

Why This 5-Day Saigon Cu Chi Mui Ne Package Stands Apart

Mui Ne White Sand Dunes sunrise ATV Vietnam

White Sand Dunes at Dawn — 04:45 Departure

The White Sand Dunes (Bau Trang, 25 km north of Mui Ne) are best experienced at sunrise — cool sand underfoot, shifting colour from lavender pre-dawn through gold and orange as the sun rises. The 04:45 jeep pickup reaches the dunes by 05:15–05:30, giving a full hour of optimal light before the sand heats up. The ATV ride (2 persons per vehicle) covers the full dune field. The small freshwater lakes that sit next to the white dunes — surrounded by water hyacinth — are visible as reflective silvers in the early light.

Cu Chi Tunnels underground wartime network Vietnam Saigon

Cu Chi Tunnels — 250km of Underground Viet Cong Network

Cu Chi is 40 km northwest of Ho Chi Minh City — a 90-minute drive from the city centre. The Ben Dinh section of the tunnel network is the most visitable: the guide shows the hidden entrances (trapdoors concealed under leaf litter), the tunnel sections that have been widened to 80 cm for visitors (the originals were 50×80 cm — Vietnamese soldiers only), the underground kitchens with smoke-venting systems designed to dissipate smoke through tree roots, and the field hospital. Outside: the bomb craters from B-52 strikes, the anti-tank traps, and a demonstration of crossbow booby traps.

Fairy Stream red clay canyon Mui Ne Vietnam

Fairy Stream — Red Clay Canyon Walk

The Fairy Stream (Suoi Tien) is a narrow canyon of deep red and yellow laterite clay, 3 km from Mui Ne Beach, with a shallow clear stream running through it. The walk is ankle-deep through the stream — no shoes — past canyon walls of sculpted red clay that get taller as you go in. The overhead jungle canopy keeps the canyon shaded and cool. The colour of the canyon walls against the bright clear water and the vivid green tropical plants above is completely unique in Vietnam. A 30-minute walk in and back.

Saigon Ho Chi Minh City War Remnants Museum Notre Dame Vietnam

Saigon — War Museum & Café Apartment Block

Ho Chi Minh City's essential sites concentrate South Vietnam's 20th-century history: the War Remnants Museum (photographs and artefacts documenting the American War from the Vietnamese perspective — the most visited museum in the country), Independence Palace (the Reunification Palace, preserved as it was on 30 April 1975), Notre Dame Cathedral, and the colonial-era General Post Office. The evening Nguyen Hue pedestrian boulevard and the Café Apartment Block (42 Nguyen Hue, a six-storey residential building where every apartment is a different café) give the modern HCMC experience.

5 Day Saigon Cu Chi Tunnels Mui Ne Beach Tour from Malaysia

The 5-day Saigon, Cu Chi Tunnels, and Mui Ne package is the most complete South Vietnam itinerary for Malaysian travellers who want both historical depth and beach time. Two nights in Mui Ne gives the full sand dune experience without early morning pressure: the White Sand Dunes at dawn, the Fairy Stream, the fishing village, and the Red Dunes at sunset — all in a single memorable Mui Ne day.

Cu Chi Tunnels, 40 km from Saigon, is the most visited historical site in South Vietnam after the War Remnants Museum.
